Wilbur’s younger brother was named Orville and his younger sister was named Katherine. As kids Wilbur moved a lot but in 1884 his family decided to stay in Dayton, Ohio. during 1878 (when Wilbur was 11) Wilbur’s dad brought him and his brother (Orville Wright) a model helicopter that made both of them get interested in flying. In 1885 Wilbur had in injury while playing hockey, he was hit in the face by a hockey stick. This made problems with his brain and heart. When Wilbur had the injury he also became depressed as time went on, Wilbur spent time in his family library learning a bit more as he read. When Wilbur’s mom got really sick Wilbur took care of her. In 1889 Wilbur’s mother died. In 1892 Wilbur and Orville had bikes and eventually some of their friends went to them to fix their bikes, with the knowledge that they had on mechanics they fixed their bikes. This gave Wilbur and Orville a new idea for a business. Wilbur and Orville started selling bikes for other people for a few years. In 1894 Wilbur and Chanute (chanute was a french person the used gliders) exchanged notes with each other and Wilbur knew a bit more about gliding/flying. In 1896 Orville got typhoid fever and Wilbur helped Orville later recover. After Orville fully recovered Wilbur and Orville decided to make a flying machine.
