My First Dog By: Bron

One time over a year ago me and my mom went to a brewery in an alley in old town to go see dogs that could be adopted in the future. We went and saw so many dogs. From big to small to just right. We were walking around checking out all the dogs. ‘I said wanted to get all of them” But they weren’t for sale. We saw this dogs cutest one in my opinion she was black with fluffy hair. But then this random kind just picks her up in front of my eyes and I was just in shock but then he turns and hands her to me. Then I was so surprised cause I thought he would just keep her but then we sat down on a bench and after about 5 minutes later. She started to sleep on my lap. But then when we left I said goodbye and she looked confused.

2 weeks later they were for adoption so we went and there was a list and to my surprise we were first on a list. We bought her she was $50 extra dollars witch made her $400. You may be wondering why it was the only dog that didn’t shed but before we could get her we had to wait about an hour. Before they would bring her but when she eventually came. We weren't sure about getting her and I was begging my mom and saying ‘Please, Please” my mom after a little bit said Yes! Then we bought her and a travel crate but she cried all the way home so it took some time to calm her down. it’s like moving you leave your friends and family (She had a sister in the liter.)

So then after a little time at home we brought her in the basement. She jumped on our couch to get to my mom and she tried to jump back on the ground. But my sister tried to catch her in the stomach but on ascendant she grabbed her leg. Then my dog was crying louder and my mom screamed “ What happened!” because she twisted her ankle but we didn’t know that at that time. So we rushed back to petsmart and they made her feel good again with a needle or something like that but we don’t know for sure how they did it how well I didn’t.

then we brought her back home and we still and always will love her.

Dorms By Luke

So we walked onto the bus “of to eco week!” My friend said I was also very excited for this trip it was a two hour drive on the bus but

we made it. Then we did a couple activities then we went to the dorms. this was the part I was most excited about. so me and my friends walked into our dorm the beds were clean so I was really happy. my other friends were right across from us so I walked over

to look at their dorm their dorm was a huge mess and it smelled terrible. but they had deodorant but that was normal for them to have a room a mess but something caught my eye it was a blanket draped over one of the bottom bunks I asked them what it was for they said it was for storage. even though there room was being used for that. but that gave me an idea

I went into my dorm and told all my friends it so we all decided we were gonna build a fort. once were finished it was awesome once you walked in you got a blast of heat because my friend had a overheated flashlight and rubbed it on the pillows wich we used for our floor. it was dark so it was perfect to sleep in we also had a storage room and we also had something like the storage room. it was if you were home sick you would sleep in it you had perfectly good pillows and you had a small lamp that someone in our dorm brought a mini lamp and a small table so it felt like you were at home. so we went to bed I never knew it could take so long just to build a fort. we woke up

then did our hikes and then some other things but once we got back it was night time. then we had a awesome light show it was just playing with glow sticks. we went back to our dorm. my friend had an Idea were we would scare people who walked into our dorm. we got a blinky flashlight and I would control it my friend would be waiting at the end of the room and I would hide myself. my friend would slowly move well I turned the flashlight off and once it was on he would stop they were expecting my friend to scare them but they were mistaken in the spot I was hiding in I could shut the door and I could move around the room without them noticing I would tap there back one of my friends brought some super scary masks that were helpful at searten times you'd see me in the room but only for half a second before I was gone but at the end I would leave the dorm and hold the door shut for ten seconds then let them out but during the light show me and my friends saw something at the end of the hallway and it was sort of like a L shaped hallway and at the end of the l we saw a kid then he was gone so we went to investigate and there was just a kid in the bathroom. When I left I loved eco week.

The Creek By Allyson

This is the most funniest thing that's happened in my entire life,Well it might not be interesting on here the computer typing but in real life it's the most happiest craziest thing to ever happen to me. Allyson. And I remember that It all started when my sisters friend Mickayla came over and was going too have a sleepover and go to a park a popular park.We went too a creek a few minutes away from our house well it's 20 minutes if you walk but if a bike then like 5-10 So we went too a creek and deep green/blue creek. And there was a little hangliter thing you swing across on plus a stool thing you sit on too also swing across. But we didn't plan to come here. Because when you don’t plan to come places it turns out being really fun and you always want too go to that place aging and aging. Like we were going to the park in the first place but instead we came here. But we didn't have swimsuits on we had our clothes on instead!

“Yes! we finally arrived at the creek” I said and I did not want to go first did because I was kinda scared, so instead my sister went first she went on the stool thing because it was a little bit easier. She was yelling “ Who’s going too help me off When I probably fall off?” We all froze like ice cream statutes When she was trying to get off with her feet in the thick mud and she almost got it but I came and pushed her in when she was about in the mud were her feet were almost up fully . But I felt bad so I raced over to her so I went over and helped her out, or at least I tried to. Instead she pulled me in with a tight grab and I flipped over. She had a laugh on her face. Her friend was laughing hard so hard it looked like she was dying. So she said to me “That was so funny Allyson when you pushed her in!” I also had a laugh on my face to.

Then we got out drenched in water. But I totally wanted to go on aging so I got on the stool aging and drifted across and fell off in the deep green of the water. I felt like there was leeches in their waiting for me iching and trying to swim while looking for me. So I screamed “ I feel like there are leeches in here! Wanting too come up and eat me!” So I scrambled out fast steeping on my legs. After I went on “Aging” with her friend and made it across without falling in, My sister and her friend want on it both bumping into each other while falling in and jumped on each other in the water I was dying on the ground laughing so hard I could not breath. We all were laughing so hard but I was laughing the hardest. And my other sister on the side was recording it while also laughing. A lot later after we kept falling in we were soaked in water so we went home while we were dirty but we are going too wash up and I think this is the funniest night ever too be mad in history!

Cherry cream Italian soda by Donovan

I go to the cafe. There was black furniture inside of the cafe. There were very few people inside of the cafe. it wasn't very loud. Mom orders and suggested I get a cherry cream Italian soda. So I order a cherry cream Italian soda. She makes it by adding milk to this sodalite concoction and then adding some whipped cream on the top. Cherry cream Italian so far away smell like Anything. Cherry cream Italian sodas taste like cherries and whipped cream and milk. Then I get it at the counter Put a sticker on it and I incredibly enjoyed it.

A Great Surprise By: Liam

I was hoping we were close. The road headed through a small canyon between two ridges. Then, I saw the parking lot with the sign saying it was at the start of the trail to the left. We got out and I saw that the trail lead up a tall ridge to this side of the road. It looked like a tough hike but I was ready.

This hike was hours out of the closest large town, Montrose. We had to go camping in the next few weeks for Cub Scouts so we figured it was a good time (though the closest campsite was an hour away). The trail led to a geyser, the only one in Colorado. My dad read about it on Atlas Obscura and I immediately wanted to see it.

We got our backpacks on and headed out. We had barely gone anywhere, and with the parking lot only 100 feet behind us we crossed the small stream on a bridge. While walking across I saw a small waterfall upstream a few feet. I took a picture and then moved on. Then the trail headed up the ridge and it looked like we would get some switchbacks. We went up a little bit on the steep trail before stopping to put sunscreen on. In this section we saw a lot of horse dung. Soon we headed into the forest and began the second switchback. It was a tough hike up the second and most of the third switchback but we went anyway only stopping on some corners for water.

Then, at the end of the third switchback we saw a small field of rocks heading up the hillside like a large stream. At the bottom half covered by an overhang was a small blue pool. The pool continued to bubble up an inch or so. I took a video from a rock on the small ledge a little off the trail a few feet in front of it. “I hope the geyser didn’t get covered by a landslide,” I said in a joking way.

At the end of the fourth switchback, the path leveled out about 50 ft. from the top of the ridge. Also, the road split into two ways. One headed the rest of the way up and the other down the side of the ridge. A saw a stream near the bottom one and that meant the geyser was there too. This is because I read the geysers overflow runs into the stream after a few foot drop. This path headed out of the forest. Just when we headed back into the forest I saw the pool of the geyser.

It was a pool the size of a hot tub that was a pretty baby blue and bubbled up an inch or so. You could watch from the main place along the trail with the sign saying not to go to close. This area was a few feet above the pool but really close so I could see better. You could also go down right to the water's edge to the right of this and a little towards the back and the stream. We sat down to watch it for a few minutes. Then another group of people came and we told them it was erupting. Then, they left. I saw a large ball of moss floating around in the pool. I went up to see where the path actually ended. It went up a small hill and then it ended with nothing cool or interesting there, only large bushes. We found a place on the side of the hill 10 ft. away from the geyser. We sat down to eat lunch, crackers with salami and cheddar. Just as we were getting close to finished my dad said “I think the geyser is getting a little stronger.” We got up and it was splashing 3 or 4 inches high with some splashes 6 inches high. “This is the actual eruption!” I exclaimed. It was fairly loud and really cool. It sounded like lots of smooth popping noises as the hydrogen sulfide gases escaped the water. I was happy we spent this whole weekend around seeing it. It stayed like this for about 4 minutes before it calmed down.

We sat back down and finished lunch. Just then it started raining and we took cover under a nearby tree. It calmed down after a little bit. About 30 minutes after the first eruption there was another on and my mom got a video. I was ready so I could look from nearby and see the start of the eruption.

After it calmed down again a group of people arrived. We told them they had just missed the eruption. About five minutes later another group arrived and we all sat down. Just then it started to rain again. The other groups got out their umbrellas and we got out are rain jackets. It rained for five minutes before it calmed down. We waited until about 30 minutes after the 2 eruption. Now all of us started watching to see when the eruption would start. Then it erupted and we watched it. Halfway through it started raining harder than before and we decided to leave when it was over. It lasted 4 minutes like the other eruptions before it stopped.

This rain was so heavy we headed back before the other groups, but they all headed back very soon after. About halfway back down we heard thunder. We got back to the car after a long walk and I was finally able to relax as we headed to our campsite.

Scare of White By Nicholas B

It was the day that we all thought nothing could go wrong on holiday like Halloween. Knowing that is one of the best holiday we were getting ready and, I was a PUG getting ready and my friend playing outside while they waited for me and some friends as I finished in delight joy putting on my costume.

We blazed to the next house no dispare . As all my friends there first my costume had a problem I couldn't see very well as I was the last one to have the candy the middle age woman sat there with her PUG as she gave me the candy she gave double the amount of candy two tiny hershey bars and 1 huge Three Musketeer and that moment forward I thought everything would go great but that was a wrong decision to think. Has there it was a light Blue house while talking to my friend .

“Hey, Why are you stealing my hershey bar,” I said.

“ Dude let’s see who is faster. The winner gets to have any candy out of the losers bag,” said Alan.

I said, “Sure”.

We both knew who was faster me but he did not have a mask. We ran gasping I won by 10 feet or so all my friend there the family was not there.

We walked with how’re big bags of candy I turned around all my friend bolted why are you guys running I turned to my side’s nothing. I turned backwards there it was a strike of white trembled in my brain blue sparks ran down his face a shader of red eyes shaked into my brain with a white jumpsuit a taller person than us words flew by brain only words that were to escape it was a killer clown we ran across that street called Angelica Drive. I remembered my house address Angelica Drive we ran down to my house gasping all my friends next to me we ran into the house we locked the door. We were drinking water water there we left the bags of candy. All of us with there hearts racing out in fear. The clown backed down he walked away with no single track.

We went outside again trick or treat 1 more hour we decided. We all yelled to my dad. He said sarcastically ok ok we walked of to go on the other side of the neighborhood. The clown we thought were would he be with no trace. We finished the day with me and my friend Corban ended up eating to much candy and we both got food poisoning I had a stomach ache for 2 whole days or so . Even though it might of been better not getting food poisoning and being chased by clowns. Anyway this is the best Halloween ever and I will always remember this mibarble Halloween.

The Return of Eco Week By Manuel

The return of Eco Week was when it was Friday we were finishing up the Ropes Course It was chilli so I did not do it and it was horrifying from my point of view. Then Mr. Kenna our wolf teacher said Lets Go ! So we went and grabbed our day pack which it was wet because It rained, well It always rained up there but then we headed to the buses that were at the north dorms are.

We got into the buses I was kind of sad that Eco Week ended but we had to leave because we couldn't stay up there. Then the bus driver said get yourselves seated we will be taking of in a couple of minutes because we still got people coming so just wait please.

But then we were starting to leave the camp I said to myself goodbye! Eco week hopefully the next generations could come as well!! So we left the camp and then suddenly a sand storm was, coming up. It was really big but good thing that It was coming on the window and It did not come into the bus.

I was started to see some big trees and branches and a lot of sand but’ It was not pretty good looking forest but It was fun to see. Then It was the middle of the trail and I was starting to get hungry but it was not time to eat yet but I had my snack lunch in my day pack, oh I wish I could just start eating but then Mr Kenna Said If you want a lollipop if your hungry then you can get one so I went and I got one it was good.

But then we got to the picnic we ate our snack lunch it was yummy.

After that we hopped on the bus again and move down the road. Then in ten more minutes we would be back to Colorado. I was so happy to finally see my parents again after all that Eco Week stuff. But the bus driver said we are almost back to the Zach, when he said that I could see the school, we were closer and closer and then we were there. I could see my parents walking In to the sidewalk on the right then suddenly the bus stopped and the bus doors open and then everyone standed up and got in a single line and out the bus.

I was smashed into the signal file line but then I got out and ruined to my parents and I gave them a big hug and we walked to the car and we drove away back to awor house.

Hiking By: Byung-A

I’ve been walking for almost 2 miles down the mountain, and I was really tired and exhausted. I can’t imagine the hike this challenging! But then, we were there.

It all started at 7:00 am. We were outside at the cold breezing wind. We were preparing for the B-17 hike. I was a bit cold that time. We were given instructions on what we are needing to do at the hike. We were ready. I was ready too. There, we started our hike. We were walking a few couple meters, and saw that were heading to a narrow trail. We got to the path and went single file on the pathway. We were a few feet before we exited there. We got out, and we went up hill. It was a big wider than the previous path, but it was worth it. We were now about a quarter mile away, and we took a break there. Then, we continued there. But that was when it got a bit intense.

We were heading our way to the intense path. We were hiking at least ¾ of a mile. We heard Mr. Kenna talking to a CSU student named Alex who was leading the trail to the hike. The more we were walking up the path, the more the trail got thicker. We were at least a mile up when we took a break. We were hiking up the bold, rocky, bumpy hike which gave more pressure to us and made it a bit more challenging. It was at least 8:00 when we hiked a mile long. At least 10-20 people were very tired and were distances away from us. We were tired. It took a while, but we made it to our second break which led us to the Twin Lakes. We were tired. It was at least 30 minutes of nonstoping hike. But it wasn’t really a challenge for me to hike 30 minutes nonstop. I wasn’t in interest about the Twin Lakes when Alex talked about it. But I did get in more interest with the hiking. So we continued from there, and we saw some animal tracks that were pure and fresh. We were exiting the lakes and on to the hard, rough, challenging hike. Then, we took off.

At first, it wasn’t so hard at all, but once it was about 10 minutes, it started to get challenging. We were going uphill, and I was having some issues of going up. I started to get very tired. But there was no need of rest. I was stumbling upon the big, large boulders, with small twigs and thorns aging me, the big trees being an obstacle to encounter, and the long distances of high elevation. I was exhausted. I thought after this, we would be seeing B-17. I was in stress. It wasn’t even 9:00 since our last break. This was tiring. I would have to wait until it was at least 10:00. Time was ticking so slowly I thought. We were about 1 and a half miles there. I was panting so much that it got harder the more I hiked. I never experienced hiking this hard! But then, we were ⅞ the way. We took a break there, and I was tired so much, I could hardly breathe. But I tried to hide my exhausting reaction to Manuel, so I lied to him that I wasn’t tired. But it was kind of true.

He then said to me, “How are you not tired?” There we settled down and waited until the rest of the people caught up with us and settled down. Then, we left. We were going up to a stream where we stopped and waited until there was the next step to B-17. We then arrived at a trail with two paths. So we found out that there was an arrow pointing the direction to B-17. we hiked all the way until we stopped and waited. I was tired once again. Our instructor Alex had been expecting a quiet hike on the last part of hiking to the plane crash. Then we started hiking down the path. I started to get behind. I tried to catch up to them, but the rocks and stones were slowing me down. I was at least the 8th person there during the hike. I’ve been walking for almost 2 miles down the mountain, and I was really tired and exhausted. I can’t imagine the hike this challenging! But then, we were there.

We found the B-17 plane crash site. It looked that it wasn’t there, but I walked a bit more until I saw hundreds of metal pieces scattered around the mountain. It was awesome but sad. To the 8 men who died in the plane crash, I was acting like I cared so much about them. It was so awkward.

How can there be very little pieces of the plane crash? Surely Nobody had taken them!” I said to myself. But then, one of my classmates had found something humongous. It was huge, rusted, dirty, old piece of the plane. It looked like a van burned down. I gave my best respect to the crash site and barely said a word about it. It was tragic. People were questioning on what happened to the crash. I heard that 8 men died from not countering the mountains. It was unfortunate for them. People started to have there lunch there. While we had our investigations on the crash, I saw a colorful rainbow appearing brightly. Then, we headed our way back to the start of our hike. During the hike, Alex taught us about the “broom dance,” and Mrs. Eberle made a riddle of what can go pass through the “green, glass, door.” I thought we wouldn’t have any fun activities during the hike. There were many stops while we were hiking. We were taking the last few minutes before going to our dorms talking about our experiences during our hike. I had big experiences. This was my first time there. It was tough, challenging, and never before, fun!

It was the best thing I had experienced in my life. I thought the next time, I am in a step up for a bigger, harder, hike and challenge.

Bestest Buddy By: Lara

“Shuffle, Mia, Shuffle!!”Natalie said. It was the last day of Eco Week, and I was sure nobody wanted to go back home. We were in groups of 3, and we were learning about Stream Ecology. My group was Mia, Natalie, and I. Our group got a science backpack, and we were group 3. We were rating rating the river based on around, below, and within the river. It was Mia’s turn as the shuffler. (she kicked around in the rocks to get the bugs out, for they lived in the rocks!) It was my turn to hold the tray that we put the bugs onto, and Natalie’s turn to hold the net.

“Brrr… It’s freezing out here, let’s finish up quick!” I shivered.

“Yeah, my hands are going numb!” Natalie agreed.

“If your finished, you can go inside to look at your insects under the microscope,” Katie said. We were all anxious to get inside, because it was freezing cold, and the river we were standing in was even colder.

“29, 30! Finished! Lets go inside now,” Mia exclaimed. She emptied the net into the tray, and we lugged the net up the little hill, while trying to balance the pan so the water didn’t spill, and dropped the net in the pile.

When we got inside, we had to stand by the fire to get warm. Once we were sort of warm, we brought the tray to our table. Immediately, we noticed the biggest bug on the try and looked him up in our field guide.

“A…. Here it is! He’s a Stonefly Nymph!” I declared.

“Oh, he’s so cute!” Natalie said as she looked at him under the microscope. “His face is like:” Natalie said as she made a funny face. We laughed.

“I just had a great idea, we should give him a name!” I said, smiling.

“Yeah, let’s give this little buddy a name. Hmmm…” Natalie replied.

“That’s just it! Buddy!” I exclaimed. We agreed that Buddy was the perfect name for this river insect.

As we left, Natalie and I waved to our table, were Buddy was.

“Goodbye Buddy, we’ll remember you!” Natalie said. We looked at each other and smiled.

“This was the best school trip ever,” I declared. Natalie silently agreed.
