“It's 6:00!’’ said Mrs. Lemon. At first, I didn’t want to get up, but I had to because I had to go on a B-17 which is a hike. The teachers said to dress warm and my mom said to dress like we are going skiing, too.
When I got out of my warm PJ’s, I was so cold I felt like an ice cube. I got on my socks, leggings, then over my leggings I got on some sweat pants to keep my legs warm, and I put on a base layer, then my Eco Week shirt over my base layer, then a sweatshirt, and a coat, a puffer coat, finally I got on my hiking boots, and the last thing I promise is my hat and gloves.
I was on the trail, trucking through the fresh snow, I could barely feel my feet. My legs were hurting so bad, you wouldn’t believe me. After a while I couldn’t really feel the pain any more because I got used to the pain. There was a lot of logs to climb over, it looked like an animal's home.
After about an hour or so, we were finally at our lunch spot. There was a river that you could see the rocks through the water and there was snow, so it looked even prettier. with snow There was a tree that fell down so Katie the person at the top of the group said that we will sit on there for lunch. I had to brush off the snow to sit down to each lunch because there was like a foot of snow on that tree.
There was a tree hanging over my friend Kye, and there a lot of snow on that tree and then PLOP! All that snow had fell on Kye’s face and his jacket!
I had a turkey and cheese sandwich, some carrots, and some Oreos, and I just had water for my drink.
Finally, we were at the at the crash site where eight people had died in the plane crash. I saw half of an engine and half of a plane. There was a cross to represent someone who had died in the plane crash.
The 8 people who had died, they were flying over the mountains, it was raining and stormy, so they couldn’t see the mountain, so they crashed into the mountain which is now called B-17 Bomber which is where the crash site is.
When we came down some of the snow had melted, so it was all slushy and wet, but there was still some snow. My mom said that my hiking boots were waterproof, but since all the snow had melted, my shoes were soaked, now my hiking shoes are still soaked with snow and water.
There was a lot of people falling on the way back because it was slippery and slick. I didn’t have gloves on because it was warm, I fell and now my hands were frozen, so I quickly got on my gloves.
After I got back, I got on my PJ’s. “It's 5:30, time for dinner!’’ I said. I changed into some warm clothes, instead of my hiking boots, I wore my sneakers, snow pants, my hat and my gloves. Then I realized that I just had done a hike that I thought that I couldn’t do.
