Introduction
I have been looking for gold for days and I still haven't found any yet. What is that?! I kneel down and I see something shiny, I pick it up. It’s gold! Gold! I was so happy then I could no think of anything else in the world!!!,But my family of course! And so the Gold Rush was about to start! Dun,Dun,Duuuuuuuuun!!!
California Before the Gold Rush
Before the gold rush California was part of the mexican territory. The united states “wanted” to buy California from Mexico. But mexico did not agree on that. At that time only 14,000 people lived in California. That should all change after the gold rush.
Sutter’s Mill
It was a cold morning January 24,1848. In Sacramento California is where the gold rush first started. James Marshall weant to check on the sawmill that he was building for John sutter. When he got there something was glaring in the water. He said,” I wonder what it is?”So he picked it up it was gold! Gold! He was so excited! He ran as fast as he could to Sutter’s house. Marshall told Sutter all that happened. Sutter could not believe his ears. “Marshall,”Sutter said I can not believe you found gold on “MY” property. That is so amazing. Marshall we half to keep this a secret or the whole world will be coming hear to get “MY” gold. THAT CAN NOT HAPPEN!
Life During the Gold Rush
Somehow the secret got out and shorenuf lots of people came onto sutter’s property and started mining for gold. Hundreds of people left their homes, lives, jobs, and families to go to sutter's mill to get the gold. A woman from boston came to sutter’s mill but, she did not come to mine for the gold. She baked pies for the miners. The woman from boston made more money the the people mining for the gold. Miner searched through gravel and mud just to get that gold. Many people got barely any gold. The miners were so disgusted that the woman from boston made more money than them and she was selling pies! I for one am surprised that she made more money then the miners. Aren't you?
Striking at Rich
The first forty-niners to ever reach California were really lucky. They were lucky because the gold was way easier to find. Soon they left because over 100,000 people were there looking for the gold to. It was chaos!!!
After the Gold Rush
After the Gold Rush 360,000 people lived in California. That is a lot of people from 100,000 people to 360,000 is a lot.
